ALLEGORY-02 is a sound installation, an audio version of an outdated form of communication: the message in a bottle. In this version a loudspeaker replaces the written note. Bottles with implanted loudspeakers hang from the ceiling transmitting two alternating audible objects: recorded 911 distress calls and sounds of ocean waves. My main concern here is to discuss the artist’s distress and his expectations to be saved by his/her own creation. It is an allegorical piece since it does not present the artist’s distress directly but rather through the work of art itself. Can art save the artist?
